Effortlessly extend your existing on-premises Microsoft Exchange infrastructure into the cloud with a robust hybrid configuration that unifies identity, maintains email continuity, and enables a controlled, risk-free evolution toward Microsoft 365—without service interruption or user disruption.
For organizations not ready for a full cloud leap, a hybrid Office 365 deployment offers the ideal middle ground: it preserves your current Exchange investment while unlocking cloud capabilities like modern security, scalable storage, and anywhere access. This architecture establishes a secure, bidirectional bridge between your local Exchange environment and Exchange Online, allowing mailboxes to reside in either location while presenting a single, seamless experience to users. Shared sign-in credentials, consistent email addresses, unified calendaring, and centralized mail routing ensure operational cohesion throughout the transition. Our Hybrid Office 365 Migration service implements this integration with enterprise-grade precision, aligning technical execution with your strategic cloud roadmap.
Scope of the Service
We deliver a production-ready hybrid environment that includes:
- Technical readiness review of your on-premises Exchange and Active Directory
- Installation and configuration of Azure AD Connect for identity synchronization
- Execution of Microsoft’s Hybrid Configuration Wizard with custom topology alignment
- Secure mail flow setup using dedicated send/receive connectors
- Implementation of a shared SMTP namespace (e.g., all users retain @yourdomain.com)
- Activation of cross-platform collaboration features: free/busy visibility, message tracking, and unified client access
- Documentation and handover for ongoing management
Note: This engagement establishes the hybrid foundation. Actual mailbox migration to Exchange Online is a subsequent phase and billed separately.
Implementation Workflow
Phase 1: Discovery & Planning
We conduct a kickoff session to align on objectives, then perform a detailed audit of your on-premises environment—validating Exchange version compatibility, certificate status, DNS records, firewall rules, and network latency to Microsoft 365 endpoints.
Phase 2: Identity Integration
Azure AD Connect is deployed to synchronize user objects, group memberships, and password hashes from your local Active Directory to Azure AD. This enables true single sign-on: users authenticate once and access both on-premises and cloud resources with the same credentials.
Phase 3: Hybrid Infrastructure Setup
Using the Hybrid Configuration Wizard, we configure federation trusts, mail flow connectors, and namespace policies. Key outcomes include:
- Consistent primary email addresses across both environments
- Option to route all outbound messages through your on-premises edge transport (for compliance or journaling)
- Automatic routing of inbound messages to the correct mailbox location—cloud or on-premises
Phase 4: Feature Validation
We rigorously test interoperability:
- Calendar free/busy data visible across all users
- Message tracking functional regardless of origin
- Autodiscover correctly provisioning Outlook and mobile clients
- Single URL (e.g., outlook.office.com) serving all users seamlessly
Phase 5: Future-Ready Foundation
With hybrid operational, you gain the flexibility to migrate mailboxes incrementally—by department, role, or timeline—without impacting business operations.
